Rupert: "Boy, have we been BAAAAADDDDD!!! We have been missing you all and sorry we have been so busy playing outside in this awesome summer weather!"

Leeroy: "We are always going to the dogpark and soaking up the sun as much as we can. This summer I learned to go in the pool all by myself when I get hot!"

Maybel: "I can run so fast and I love to be splashed in the pool!"

Leeroy: "I don't like the splashing so much but I will get my feet wet to cool off."

Maybel: "You chicken!!!"

Leeroy: "Hey! At least I get in the pool on my own....Kellie has to carry and place Rupert in it!"

Rupert: "Don't get me involved in your bickering, guys! I am busy sniffing, making spit bubbles and peeing on things.....I have to keep this park in order, you know!"

Maybel: "Whatever, big guy...I am just glad we all get to go there together and run freeeeeeee!!"

Leeroy: "As summer winds down we will do our best to post more often. We love to tell you our stories and share artwork with you that is coming out of the Doodle Dog studio."

Rupert: "This post's painting is called "Brilliant Bacchus" a silver standard poodle that is so friendly and playful. It's hard to see in the photo of the painting but there are even silver metallic paints used in his portrait that catch the light and add to the depth of the piece."

Leeroy: "Depth of the piece? Wow, Rupert, you are really an artsy fartsy today! You must have found some time this summer to learn some art stuff."

Maybel: "Yeah, Rupert...I did catch you reading the pages of the book in Kellie's studio that I got caught chewing on....I am glad I was so helpful!"

Rupert: "You know, it wouldn't hurt you two to brush up on art theory....we are supposed to be Kellie's assistants!"

Leeroy: "Brush up...hahaha....like paint brush up....oh, I am so funny! I think one thing we need to do to help her is to make sure to post more often!"

Maybel: "We better! See you all again soon...now we're off to the park!"

Summer Solstice......Sweet!

Rupert: "Ahhhhhhh....summer is finally here and outside time is so heavenly. We need to absorb as much of this summer sun as we can!"

Leeroy: "Sure do! We get more walk time, sunbathing time, and grass napping time in the summer. This is the best!"

Maybel: "I think I really like this summer thing! I didn't know you could just lie outside and relax! You boys are pretty fun to hang out with.....I really feel like I am home."

Rupert: "Aw, Maybel, glad you are happy. Leeroy and I love having a girl in the pack, even if you still don't know all the rules of the house."

Maybel: "But....aren't rules made to be broken?"

Leeroy: "Maybel, that's why we love ya! You are our kind of girl!"

Rupert: "You bring out the naughty in us....mwahahahaha!"

Maybel: "Hold up, Rupert, you are getting that crazy look in your eyes....."

Leeroy: "Anyways....while Maybel fends herself against dirty dog over there I want to show you this painting Kellie completed a couple of months ago. It's called "The Talented Mister Man" and is a memorial painting of Ripple, a wonderful Portuguese Water Dog. He is missed like crazy and was such a smart, loveable and regal boy."
Leeroy: "Hmmmm.....Maybel and Rupert seem to have disappeared.....they better not be doing anything bad.......I better go check on them....I may be small but I am scrappy and Maybel probably needs me to help her with Rupert. I am not sure why he has to be so dirty.....I think he just forgets his manners sometimes and needs a reality check. Happy summer solstice everybody! Grab every sunny moment that you can.....love you all!"

A Girl and her Pearls.....and some Bling doesn't Hurt!

Maybel: "Hello everybody! Today I turn one year old! It's my birthday! It's my first one and Rupert and Leeroy have been telling me all of the stuff that is going to happen...I am very excited!

This morning I woke up to lots of kisses and belly rubs and a pancake breakfast with peanut butter and bananas on top! Scrumptious! Then we all went outside for playtime and I got to roll on some worms. Kellie said that wasn't part of the plan but I thought it was a great surprise!

Then we came back in and I had a PUPsicle and there was my first wrapped presie ever for me to open....I didn't know what to do with the paper but Rupert and Leeroy showed me. They seemed disappointed that there was a pink pearl necklace in it with a blingy dog bone charm but my eyes lit up!!! I get to wear my pearls all day and tell the boys what to do....this is fun!

Tonight I heard there is cake and another presie...this time I will tackle the wrapping paper myself. We are also going to the dog park to visit some friends. Yay, I need to have birthdays more often!

Oh, yes, and for my birthday I have picked Kellie's painting called "Catching Keyser" to show you. It's a big painting and is of a very smart boy who can even say "I Love You"....

Well, Keyser, I love YOU! You are painted chasing one of your favorite tennis balls and you look beyond happy! I love to run and chase and smile too! Maybe someday we can meet and chase things together!

I hope everyone has as super a day as I have been having! I am feeling so safe and blissful in my forever home....I even jumped up into my human dad's lap this weekend and chased him at the park! He isn't so bad! I think I will love him too.....Bye for now and keep on wagging!"

Leeroy: "I thought they were going to be painted!"

Rupert: "They will be painted but at the end of the day a winner's name is going to be picked...smarten up Weeboy!"

Maybel: "There's a chance I get to go with Kellie for the day!!!"

Rupert and Leeroy: "WHHHHAAATTT???"

Maybel: "Well, you two are all grown up now and I need to be supervised a lot more than you...and I've never been to the store yet so it's my turn!"

Leeroy: "You better bring us back some treats!!"

Rupert: "As long as there are treats no one gets hurt."

Maybel: "You got it boys. Hey, Rupert, this week's painting is of "Mick the Lick" and he has a silver chin just like you!"

Rupert: "He looks so distinguished...quite a gentleman I must say...."

Leeroy: "Mickey is a sweet soul, wise and gentle. His family loves him very much. He is deaf and almost blind but his eyes shine bright with love and happiness."

Maybel: "What a good boy! Here's to Mickey!"

Rupert: "We love him...and we would love for you to stop in and see Kellie and introduce yourselves and your pups! We will remind you again next week, ok?!"

Rupert: "Hello peeps! We want to wish you a Happy Easter and let you know we are really in the spirit this year!"

Maybel: "Yes! It's an extra special holiday weekend because its somebunny's birthday this Monday!!!"

Leeroy: "MEEEEEEEE!!!! It's MY birthday!!! I am going to be THREE!!!"

Rupert: "Seems like just yesterday you came to live with us, little bro! You have really come out of your shell this past year....I am proud of you!"

Maybel: "I never had a birthday yet....mine's coming too next month so I can't wait to see what it's all about. I hear we get pancakes with bananas to start the day and then lots of other fun stuff to do and eat."

Leeroy: "Yah! And cause it's Easter too we get extra special treats! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!"

Rupert: "Today's painting is very fitting since we are all bursting with excitement and glee...It's "Kinematic Keiko"!"

Leeroy: "It's whaaaaa? I remember we got to meet Keiko...he came over to our house before Kellie started his painting. What does Kineautomatic mean?"

Maybel: "It's kinematic ... it plays a role in physics and includes animal locomotion. Kinematics is the branch of classical mechanics that describes the motion of objects without consideration of the causes leading to the motion."

Rupert: "That's what I was going to say."

Leeroy: "Uh.....ok....Maybel, how did you get so smart? You are a lot younger than Rupert and I so I don't understand how you can be so smart already."

Maybel: "Oh, boys, you are so naive....us girlies are wise beyond our years....there are many things about me you don't know yet but I will let them reveal themselves in due time. Let's go you silly rabbits, the festivities have started so let's get hunting for some treats!"

Rupert: "Well, it's just me here today...Leeroy and Maybel are off snuggling in their favorite studio chair so that leaves ALL of the bed to MMMMEEEEEE! I can stretch out until my legs dangle off the edge, I don't get kicked or pushed or squashed into a corner, I get ALL of the covers and the silence is....well.....maybe it's a little too quiet. Don't tell Leeroy I said that, cause he already told me I couldn't survive without him and I don't want him to know he might be right!

Anyhoo, more time alone has given me time to reflect...I will be turning six this summer and time waits for no dog. I have a lot of plans coming up and am very excited to watch them unfold.

At the end of April, Kellie will be painting onsite in Kanata! She will have more details for us soon, but I think it is going to be on the 24th and people that come to see her will have a chance to win a portrait of their pet valued at $575! She hasn't decided what she will be painting that weekend yet, so if you have any suggestions just let us know!

This week's painting is "Kelly's Keepsake & Dickens' Dream". Beautiful Kelly is no longer with us but her best friend Dickens is. I know that they miss each other so much but Dickens is a big, brave boy with a heart of gold. This was a surprise painting from husband to wife! I hope that Kellie's artwork brings them much comfort and happiness.

I think I better go check in on Leeroy and Maybel now....you know, because they may need me.....I'll tell them I will share the bed for a little while with them...or ask them if they can share the studio chair with me. Make sure to give your loved ones and extra bit of loving this week because you never know when your next chance will be to do that. Love you all!"

Rupert: "Thank goodness we were able to find this sunspot today....we are beyond having cabin fever and can't wait for spring!"
Leeroy: "I think you are hogging the sunspot just a little, Rup....your portly body is interfering with my rays!"

Maybel: "I'm just happy to be here...I'm not even going to complain."

Rupert: "PORTLY body? What do you mean???!"

Leeroy: "You know....stout, round, rotund, heavy...shall I continue?"

Rupert: "You little brat...how dare you call me fat! It's just my winter weight to help keep me warm!"

Leeroy: "Hey, I never said "fat"...but I can if you want me to..."

Maybel: "Boys! BOYS!!! Don't get me started on my self esteem issues about weight...Leeroy, you be nice to Rupert and Rupert, shove over a little to the right, please..."

Rupert: "Fine.....you two just remember that I was here first...and I am SHARING the sunspot with you."

Leeroy: "Sure, sure....let's move on and talk about today's artwork from Kellie's studio. This is "Zingy Zim" and he is the most loving and playful Rottweiler you'll ever meet! Kellie got to visit him in person. He is a big sweet boy and this painting was a surprise gift for his Papa from his Mama!"

Maybel: "So, the splashing backgrounds work on smaller square canvases too?"

Rupert: "Yup - have you seen Kellie paint these?"

Maybel: "Not yet, why?"

Rupert: "Cause it's really neat - she actually has a room all tarped off and lays the canvas down on the ground so she can whip the paint around. Sometimes she has to start over on new canvases just to get the mood and feeling right in the way the splashes go down."

Maybel: "Mood? Feeling? But it's just paint..."

Leeroy: "Don't let Kellie hear you say that! You will soon learn that paint is an extension of an artist's means to express...you can tell alot about what an artist is feeling or thinking in the paint."

Maybel: "I think I have some learning to do! I will have to watch her more closely and ask lots of questions."

Rupert: "Good idea, but maybe don't get so close...the last time you did you ended up taste testing the paint, remember? That's a big "no no" here. You sure looked funny with a dollop of turquoise on your snout!"

Maybel: "Hey....maybe you should not only shove over a little to the right, Rupert but you should shove yourself right off the edge of the chair.."

Leeroy: "Get him, sis, GET HIM!!!"

Rupert: "Now, now, everyone stay calm...let's call a truce and soak up as much of this sun as we can...we can't let it go to waste. See you next time everyone!"

One Month of Maybel....

Leeroy: "We are loving every minute we have with you, Maybel. You are awesome to snuggle with and to play with and to bark with. I can't believe you've been with us for a month now!"

Maybel: "Thank you! I do my bestest! I am SO happy to have my forever home...I never knew life could be so fun. My heart does hurt some though..."

Leeroy: "Oh! NO! Why, my sis?"

Maybel: "Well, my only brother Valentino and two of my sisters Clarisa and Serafina are still waiting for their forever homes....I hope one day soon they can be as happy as I am. I know I am a bit of work, and I am very shy and not sure what all the rules are, just like them but my wish is for my siblings to have their turn to get super homes."

Leeroy: "I am sorry you are sad, Maybel....I met them when we went to visit you and we hope that they get great homes too. Here's a shout out to ANYONE who can give Maybel's brother and sisters a good home, please!!! The shelter they are at are willing to adopt out of state or, even in our case, even into Canada to the right home! Come one everybody, let your friends know and tell the world!"

Maybel: "Wouldn't that be wonderful to hear that they get their homes soon and then they can stay in touch with us?!"

Leeroy: "I HAS to happen! Are you ok with being in Canada now? It's cold, eh?"

Maybel: "Just a wee bit...I have never seen so much snow before. I think I have cabin fever...."

Leeroy: "This week's painting is of "The WinterLand Boys; Oscar & Watson". They are fellow canadians and are painted outside playing in the snow!"

Maybel: "The background is neat! Modern and clean, black and white...it makes it a classic!"

Leeroy: "Sounds like you are an arteest at heart! No wonder why you found your way here."

Maybel: "I like to try to take Kellie's paint brushes....maybe someday she will teach me how to paint!"

Leeroy: "Now THAT I have to see!"

Three's Company!!!

Maybel: "Hello there...um...I am new here and....um....I just wanted to say "Hi!". Rupert and Leeroy are my new brothers and I am settling into my new home. I came from Ohio....I guess I am a canadian now...um....I was in a shelter and Kellie adopted me. They told me I am in my forever home...I think this means that I won't be in a shelter anymore and that I don't need to be scared of being alone."

"My new favorite thing over the last few days is sleeping UNDER thick blankets like my brothers do. They are really good at it so it didn't take long for me to learn how! I also love running around and am mastering how to jump up on the couch - wheeeeeee! It's like I can fly! I am still not sure about wearing stuff around my neck or about where I should be doing my "business" but everyone here says it's ok and I will get it in time."

"Oh, yeah - I am supposed to tell you about some artwork too - this piece is called "The Berner Girls!" The three BGs live in Michigan with a fantastic mom and dad. The girls are Trina, Brookie and Skye and we all hope that we will get the chance to meet them someday soon. I guess they are alot bigger than me and they have lots of fur...um....I don't have much fur....so it would be good to snuggle with them! Haha - it would be the three BGs and the three IGs..."

Rupert: "This week's painting is called "Will You, Wiggle?!" and it is of the biggest and bestest chocolate lab Kellie has ever met!"

Rupert: "That's the title because it was painted as a surprise wedding gift from a bride to her groom! It was presented to him at the reception! Isn't it neat?!"

Leeroy: "Yeah - did everyone dress up for the wedding?"

Rupert: "Well, sure they did, it's a fancy occassion!"

Leeroy: "Did they dress as chickens or as rabbits?"

Rupert: "Oh, boy, not that kind of dress up.....but let me tell you, if YOU ever get married I will wear the chicken costume....that's a promise!"

Sun, Sand and Sighthounds!

Leeroy: "We got back this week from an awesome trip at Greyhounds Reach the Beach in Dewey Beach, Delaware!"

Rupert: "It was our first time in the United States AND at the ocean! We had such a blast!"

Leeroy: "Everyday we hit the beach, dined at dog friendly restaurants, popped into the Greyhounds in Art show, and checked out all the fabulous vendors!"

Rupert: "We made lots of new friends and want to go back right away..."

Leeroy: "Two of Kellie's Chakra Hound paintings found new homes. Watch the SHOP page of the website for prints of the collection available for sale in the next couple of weeks!"

Rupert: "Here is one of the Chakra Hounds called "Devoted Love". There were 7 BIG pieces in the collection and hours and hours went into creating them."

Leeroy: "We can't wait to go back next year and see all our new friends again."

Rupert: "Thank you all for having us, and for giving us the time of our lives. Hugs and licks to everyone!"

Leeroy: "I am very excited to tell you about some things you CAN'T miss!!! First, Rupert and I are travelling to Greyhounds Reach the Beach from October 7th to the 12th...Kellie has put together a Chakra Hound collection special for the event. There are 7 huge paintings in the series and you MUST see them at the Greyhounds in Art show!"

Rupert: "If you are in Dewey Beach for the weekend PLEASE come to the open house where we are staying. Designer extraordinaire, Char, is having a Dewey Preview party where you can get a first hand look to purchase amazing creations. It is going to be mind blowing!"

Leeroy: "Kellie has one of Charly Blair's gorgeous bracelets but I am borrowing it and using it as neckware..."

Rupert: "Yeah, Kellie wants that back, you know....."

Leeroy: "I know, maybe tomorrow."

Rupert: "The other big event is DOGtoberFEST! Save the date on Sunday, October 25th to bring your dog to this fabulous open house! Urban Dog Photog, Chilly Dogs and Doodle Dog Paintings have joined forces to bring together an eyeful of inspiration. Leeroy: "Rup and I need to get packing, we have never been to the ocean before..."

Please Don't Leave Us, Summer.......

Rupert: "Hey all! Life has been busy lately in a good and exciting way!"

Leeroy: "First, let's congratulate Margot from Australia on winning the Doodle Dog commission that was in Storm's auction. We are happy to report that the auction for this special 3 legged Iggy helped to raise lots of money for his vet bills. We also wish Storm the best life ever and send him lots of licks!"

Rupert: "There is also another event happening tonight that is raising money for farm animals!"

Leeroy: "Yeah, like pigs and chickens and cows and donkeys and goats and stuff."

Rupert: "Thank you for clarifying that for everyone, Leeroy.....It's the Animal Acres Gala taking place in California. This is the second year that Kellie is donating artwork. The event was supposed to happen last weekend but due to the devastating fires the entire sanctuary had to be evacuated! Everyone is safe and a new location is hosting the benefit. This year's honourary chair is Ellen Degeneres!"

Leeroy: "Oh! I like to see Ellen on TV and I dance along with her from the living room."

Rupert: "Yeesh...no one needs to see that!"

Leeroy: "Sounds like the event is going to be a blast! Someday we will have to go."

Rupert: "Kellie promised us the next time she goes to California we can go with her so we have to hold her to it!"

Leeroy: "YES!"

Rupert: "Here is a painting called "Hunky Harlem and Jiggy Jango", they are Rhodesian Ridgebacks and are big, big boys!"

Leeroy: "They are huge and handsome for sure! These big boys needed a big canvas...almost 4 feet wide by 2 feet high!"

Rupert: "The complex background took a long time, free hand painting the stripes and circles was a real challenge."

Leeroy: "How would you know? You didn't do it!"

Rupert: "Well, I mean....Kellie told me and I spent a lot of time watching her work on this one, so I sort of supervised."

Leeroy: "You are so deluded....supervised.....sure...."

Rupert: "Watch yourself little man."

Leeroy: "Ok, tough guy, let's go get breakie, I'm hungry."

Rupert: "Food? Outta here! Bye all."

Our Mama's Home and Back in the Studio!

Leeroy: "We are SO relieved to have our Mama, Kellie, home safe and sound from her California adventure! She brought us home some treats and some wine with my face on it!"

Rupert: "I didn't get any wine with my face on it....but I did get first kisses when she came through the door."

Leeroy: "Only 'cause you're taller than me....."

Rupert: "Kellie hasn't even had a chance yet to show us her pictures from the Mutt Lynch event but she is happy she made the trip and can't believe she was really there."

Leeroy: "Thank you everyone for sending in your SUPERB greyhound photos....Kellie is going to have a hard time choosing poses for her Dewey Beach collection...more info on that to come."

Rupert: "Today we have a REALLY IMPORTANT story for you. Not often are there Italian Greyhounds in rescue in Canada but right now Doodle Dog is trying to help to raise money for a special 3-legged boy named Storm....PLEASE read his story!"

Leeroy: "The auction for a Doodle Dog 16" x 20" commission ends this Friday, August 21 and all the money is going to pay for Storm's medical needs. He is such a brave boy...I would LOVE to meet him someday!"

Rupert: "So come on, everyone, let's help this special wee man out! There are lots of other GREAT auction items to bid on too!"

Leeroy: "I know that his new life has just started and it is a sunshiney future ahead of him!"

Rupert: "This week's painting is called "Tribute To Tod" and is for a really nice gal in California. Tod passed away and then the family computer was stolen with most of Tod's photos on it....."

Leeroy: "I hope this artwork brings them some comfort and reminds them of all the special times they had with Tod. They miss him so much and it is so hard to lose a loved one."

Rupert: "We need to remember to live each day to it's fullest and appreciate every moment we have with each other."

Leeroy: "I hear you, Rup.....Now I am gonna go appreciate me some "Leeroy's Treats" that Kellie brought back....I will share with you."

Rupert: "Kellie is searching for incredible photos to take inspiration from for her latest works. She is putting together a collection of Greyhound paintings special for Dewey Beach, Greyhounds in Art 2009. The pieces will focus on head and shoulder shots in a big scale!"

Leeroy: "If you have photos you can share with her that would be super! The best photos would be taken at eye level and with clear detail! The Greyhounds can be smiling, panting, alert and ready, or even calm magestic faces. The more the better!"
Rupert: "You can email them to Kellie and title it GREYHOUND PHOTOS! She will notify those that are being used to inspire her pieces!"
Leeroy: "This is going to be a really fun collection. A celebration of the strong, silent strength these gorgeous sighthounds have mixed in with their quirky, lovable personalities!"
Rupert: "Please submit your favorite photos by August 14th, 2009. Kellie will be working on this collection from that date until the end of September!"

I am so excited about this! I can't wait to see the finished bottles! Kellie says I can't taste the wine but I would be more than happy to pawtograph your limited edition bottles for you! It's a great contest, there is no money for the winner but the winning artwork will be made into a label for Mutt Lynch Winery's limited edition wine that will debut at the winery's Dog Days of Summer on August 8, 2009. This annual event includes wine tasting, dog themed art, and vendor booths to benefit the Healdsburg Animal Shelter."

Rupert: "There will only be 500 bottles of this exclusive wine produced and 10% of sales go to the shelter. Also 15 limited edition prints of the winning entry will be sold to benefit the animals too!"

Leeroy: "Kellie' submission is from her painting of me called "Leeroy Out Loud!" #19 on the survey. She formatted the piece so that there would be room to add the name of the wine and Mutt Lynch's name. It looks like a splash of the most colourful wine you ever tasted behind me and it tastes so good that I am singing in the most opera diva voice ever!"

Rupert: "Ahem, let's move onward and upward now. A couple of really great events took place over the weekend that Kellie donated some original artwork to. On Friday night in LA, there was a fundraiser for Ashley Paige's pet project Ruff Houzen. The soiree took place at the Luxury Pet Pavillion and there were celebrities! Kellie was honoured to paint an original just for the event!!!"
Leeroy: "Ashley Paige's pet project....you are beyond witty, Rup.."

Rupert: "I know....anyhoo.....The big painting measures 2 feet by 3 feet and is called "California Crested". With a canary yellow tone on tone zebra background and even a blinged out collar charm it is definitely eye catching! We are so excited to hear who went home with it!!!"
Leeroy: "What a great charity, you should all check out the websites. Saturday night was the 6th annual "Weim & Cheese" fundraising auction for Weimaraner Rescue of the South. Kellie donated a blank canvas to the auction and will be painting the winner's pet!"
Rupert: "What a busy weekend, wish we lived closer so we could be at these events..."
Leeroy: "Hey! If we lived closer, then we would be in much warmer weather!!! Let's go tell Kellie we need to move to California....or Georgia...or Alabama!"

Leeroy: "Speaking of treats...have you all made it to the new Bark and Fitz location in the Kanata Centrum? Everything on my wish list is from there! You have to go! It's amazing!"

Rupert: "Photographer Suzanne Bird used him for an article on renting dogs. Can you imagine? I wouldn't want to be rented out."
Leeroy: "Me neither. Kellie was with me for the whole photo shoot and we had fun. She assured me we were just playing pretend."

Leeroy: "I got a special parcel in the mail this week with some warm cozies! Now I don't have to borrow yours anymore. Jane made me some awesome fleecies, can't wait to show you!"
Rupert: "Oh, that's real nice...use my stuff, even pee on it and then get yourself some brand new stuff. Thanks alot!"
Leeroy: "Um...jealous much?"
Rupert: " Anyways.....look at this week's artwork. It's for the winners of the Ottawa Humane Society's FurBall prize!"

Leeroy: "Very beachy!"
Rupert: "It's of Dora the beautiful Golden Retriever. Her and her family have recently moved to the east coast and she loves the water so the background incorporates that. Also, Dora loves her frisbee and wearing her hot pink bandana! Kellie got to meet her before they moved away."
Leeroy: "Maybe someday we'll get to meet her. She's so pretty!"
Rupert: "That would be amazing. I'd love to run with her on the beach, watch the sunset over the ocean while holding paws, skinny dip together."
Leeroy: "Calm down, bro. You've never even met her!"
Rupert: "But I can tell that she is wonderful. And a boy can dream, right?"

Leeroy: "Very funny....let's not talk about it, let's talk about how nice it has been these last few days and how much fun we have at the dog park!"
Rupert: "You're right, this weekend we are so thankful for all this warm sunshine."
Leeroy: "I am also thankful that I don't have to wear my sweater at the dog park today!"
Rupert: "This weekend is also Greyhounds Reach the Beach at Dewey, Delaware. Kellie went last year and couldn't make it this year but she has promised that she is going next year and that WE CAN GO TOO!!!"
Leeroy: "ROADTRIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Rupert: "But we have to wait til next year. Kellie did send down an original painting for the Greyhounds in Art Show at Greyhounds Reach the Beach. It's called "Houndstooth Hound" and measures 20" x 24". The proceeds of her donated artwork along with other raffle items will be going towards greyhound cancer research!"

Leeroy: "I can't wait to go to Dewey next year, Kellie says it is a magical place. Everytime she thinks about being there she feels true bliss. The beach, the sand, the ocean and the hounds! We are thinking about Julie of Chilly Dogs, Sue of Urban Dog Photog and Char of Around the Hounds who drove down to participate. Hope they have alot of fun!"
Rupert: "How can they not? I know Kellie is wishing she was there with them but I am thankful she is with us this weekend!"
Leeroy: "Me too, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!"

Crack out the Rain Gear....Fall is Here!

Rupert: "Hey, all.....I'll be the first to let you know that I am no fan of cold weather. I am very sad to see summer go and my sunbathing time shortened every day. There is still lots to do outside, lots of places to sniff and friends to play with. Last weekend we had so much fun at the new Bark and Fitz location in Kanata! We saw Liz from the Ottawa Dog Blog and she took lots of pictures from the day! We got treats and a new toy too.
Kellie wanted me to let you know that she is heading to Montreal this Saturday, October 4th for an outdoor Pet Fair and Adoption event called "Pawfect Match". She will have some of her artwork there and is making the journey with fab friend photographer Suzanne Bird! The event is from 11am to 4pm - you should go!
Also, Kellie has a small show on for the next couple of months at Baker Bob's gallery in the bustling downtown of Almonte. What beats dogs and fresh baking? You can even see my portrait there!
One last thing for today....the artwork for this week! It's "Baby Babs"! This cutie's portrait was a surprize birthday gift! Babs really needs to lend me some of her fur. She is so pretty!

Well, I'm off to the dogpark....the sun is trying to shine so I better go catch it. Oh, if you're wondering where Leeroy is, he's "indisposed" - that's what Kellie said. All I know is that he got into something he shouldn't have and is now having a bath! Hahaha...sucker!

Rupert: "You all know how much we love summer, but Kellie has some special pricing to make you love summer too! There are a couple of sizes on special for commissions booked in July and August!"
Leeroy: "Cool...those are some nice big canvases too!"
Rupert: "While we are relaxin', Kellie is busy in her studio. She is already booking her last few spots for Christmas!"
Leeroy: "Ooooo.....me likes Christmas. I've only had one so far!"
Rupert: "Stay tuned also for some upcoming events and charities Doodle Dog Paintings will be participating in! Hey, like our logo?"
Leeroy: "Very nice! So is this week's painting!"
Rupert: "This one is called "Miss Maya". It was a wedding gift from one friend to the bride for her special day!"

Leeroy: "Super fun for celebrating!"
Rupert: "Speaking of celebrating, I am getting geared up to do some of my own!!! Remember what's coming up next week, Leeroy. Don't forget!"
Leeroy: "Oh yeah! I heard there will be cake!"
Rupert: "Let's go do some snooping!"

Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitties...

Leeroy: "Oh, kitties....where are you? I am looking for you.....are you outside?"
Rupert: "Hey, kid, you're looking in the wrong place."
Leeroy: "Whadda you mean?"
Rupert: "Well, the kitties for today are in some of Kellie's artwork."
Leeroy: "Oh.....that's right...sometimes I forget she paints kitties too."
Rupert: "She paints almost everything, Leeroy. She just specializes in dogs, cats and horses."
Leeroy: "Show me da kitties!"
Rupert: "Well, the first one is "Bright Eyed Bunny". A beautiful memorial to a dearly missed kitty. She loved to be out in the garden and to be with her special family. She was very loyal and sweet."
Leeroy: "Oh! I like Bunny! She looks like a really nice kitty!"

Rupert: "This next one is "Purrfectly Peej" and she is very shy with new people. She lives with lots of other kitties in a really fun, kitty friendly home. There are posts they can climb and special shelves they can walk along! Oh! And there's a rabbit too!"
Leeroy: "They are so lucky! I wanna go see!!"

Rupert: " And there's also "Thomas & Riley". They love to snuggle up together, just like us Leeroy!"
Leeroy: "Yay! Snuggles! I love seeing all the kitties!"

Rupert: "Me too! It does put me in a snuggling mood...."
Leeroy: "I'm up for that! Let's go find our kitty brother, Tadd...I am sure he has a spot warmed up for us!"

Rupert: "Summer is our absolute FAVORITE time of year! I just can't contain myself!"
Leeroy: "We have been busy! And enjoying the sunshine!"
Rupert: "I still have dreams about Woofstock. There were so many other dogs and treats and things to sniff. We will definitely go again next year."

Leeroy: "We saw LOTS of other iggies like us and I even met my brother Dasher! In the photo below, he is on the left and I am on the right. Turns out I was the runt of the litter....Dash is alot bigger than me."

Rupert: "I was the biggest iggy! Yippee! I win!"
Leeroy: "It was a contest?"
Rupert: "Dunno.....what I do know is that I felt like royalty all weekend! We stayed in the King Edward hotel and were pampered! We had our own gift bags, bowls brought to the room and could wander the halls whenever we wanted! Kellie even let me wear her slippers! The bathrobe was too big though...."

Leeroy: "The California king was the perfect size for sleeping in! We had such a fun time!"
Rupert: "I liked the revolving glass door in the lobby - wheeeeeee, it went round and round and round!"
Leeroy: "Hey, this week's painting is "Fiesty Fritz!" - he lives in Toronto. We kept an eye out for him at Woofstock but we didn't get to meet him."

Rupert: "The background was inspired by Fritz's parents love for France and deep blues and tomato oranges."
Leeroy: "I heard Fritz is pretty sneaky....he loves to snatch school lunches from backpacks! That gives me some ideas!"
Rupert: "Yeah....I saw you practicing and trying to sneak those liver treats out of the cupboard......but you got busted....amateur! Hahahaha!"
Leeroy: "Let's go practice some more.....can you help me? Think of all those new treats that came home with us from Woofstock!"
Rupert: "Yum, I'm in....let's go!"

Rupert: "Wakey, wakey little bro'. We have overslept!"
Leeroy: "Oh, oh...what happened? Where has the time gone?"
Rupert: "Well, Woofstock in Toronto really wore us out! I loved it, we will have to post some photos of our time..but that's for next week..."
Leeroy: "Remember to tell them I met my littermate brother, k?"
Rupert: "You bet....next week!"
Leeroy: "This week we wanted to do a special post for a stunning and sweet Pekenese that recently passed."
Rupert: "It's beautiful miss Ginger Snap. Kellie recently found out about her passing and has been very sad. Kellie was lucky enough to have painted Gingie over a year ago and to have also met her in person. Her mama Beverley is a super special lady and we all send our sympathies Ginger's family."
Leeroy: "I didn't get to meet Ginger but I can tell she was just as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside."
Rupert: "You're right Leeroy, she's one in a million."
Leeroy: "A billion!"
Rupert: "A cajillion."
Leeroy: "She will be missed so much but we know her spirit will always be with us. Take care everybody."

Which Way to Woofstock?!

Leeroy: "Hey, Rup...how do we get to Woofstock?"
Rupert: "Um... I think it's this way but I think we need to go in the car..."
Leeroy: "Hmmmm...I think it's THIS way."
Rupert: "We better leave it up to Kellie, she said it's in Toronto and that we get to stay the whole weekend of June 6th, 7th and 8th! We get to stay in a hotel and everything!"
Leeroy: "A hotel? I've never stayed away from home overnight before..."
Rupert: "Ooooo...it's SO fun - we can even order room service!"
Leeroy: "I'm down with that..."
Rupert: "We'll also see LOTS of other doggies and see what things we can buy! I can't wait!"
Leeroy: "It will be awesome making some new friends! Hey....other dogs should let us know they are going...ok, all you out there that are going, tell us! Maybe we can meet you! You can leave a comment here or even email Kellie and let her know!"
Rupert: "Yippee! Dog Party!!!"
Leeroy: "Wait! Look at this week's painting - it's "La, La, Lieba!" It's a BIG painting of an adorable girl in Westboro! Isn't that neat how she can sit pretty like that? I've been practicing but I just can't get it right."

Rupert: "I don't know how Lieba does it! She is amazing and beautiful! Look how tiny you look next to the painting! heeheehee!"
Leeroy: "I was trying to sit pretty but I could only get one leg up."
Rupert: "One leg up, eh.....just make sure it's not the back one!"

Rupert: "Ahem...I have written a poem in celebration of Mother's Day this weekend. I would like to share it.
Mama, Mama, you da one dat loves me...
Thank you, thank you, without you where would I be?
Happy, happy is really what you make me...
Always, always us together is what I see!"
Leeroy: "Make sure to wish your Mamas a Happy Mother's Day this weekend! We are going to have a little party for ours and then have a big nap together and then go for a drive and then go running around and then get some treats and enjoy the sunshine!"

Rupert: "Yippee! So much fun. Maybe we will even get to see Lizzie and Liza soon, two of our favorite pug girlfriends! Kellie painted them for their Mama. They each got their own canvas to be painted on and the backgrounds have the same pattern but da colours are switched. We LOVE Lizzie and Liza!"
Leeroy: "Have a super weekend everybodies!"

A Book, a Walk, an Apple and a TV Show!

Leeroy: "May is here and that means it's time for B.A.R.K.'s 7th Annual "Woofs and Wags" Walkathon! It is this Sunday, May 4th at the Experimental Farm Arboretum. Registration is at 8 a.m. and the walk starts at 9! I haven't been before...sounds like there is alot of stuff to do after the walk too and it's all for such a good cause!"
Rupert: "I was there last year and I had so much fun! Did the walk, got some snacks, met a pet communicator, had my photo taken by the extraordinary Sue Bird and had some more snacks! Yum!"
Leeroy: "A pet communicator? You find out why you love food so much?"
Rupert: "Maybe this year we can find out why your nickname is Chicken Little..."
Leeroy: "I'm NOT chicken....I'm just reserved when I meet new people and dogs, that's all, there's nothing wrong with that..."
Rupert: "Easy, boy! You are just really shy. Like when we met Apple, remember. You said you were overwhelmed...."
Leeroy: "Oh, yes, Apple! She is SO cute and her mama Mandy is the nicest ever!"
Rupert: "Kellie calls this week's feature "Apple of my Eye" and it is of an Ottawa Westie we made friends with. We got to play and sniff and bark together. The background of the painting is a velvety black damask pattern on hot pink! It really suits Apple's fiesty and beautiful personality."

Leeroy: "It was a big painting too - Apple's portrait was way bigger than me! A couple of times when I was passing by it I had to make sure it wasn't a real dog that came over to visit!"
Rupert: "Speaking of visit....you should tell them about your morning last Friday on Breakfast Television!"
Leeroy: "There were so many people and some other dogs...I met Six and Doyle. I ate a TimBit. Kellie held me while she did her live interview and announced her book "The First Bark" which is now on sale!!! I was overwhelmed for sure...."
Rupert: "You mean chicken...."

Bring on the Sunshine!

Rupert: "I am so thrilled that my type of weather has finally arrived! Bring on the heat, bring on the sunshine and bring on the summer!
Guess what?! Kellie is gearing up to appear on Ottawa's Breakfast Television this coming Friday morning! She should be on at 7:55 a.m. for all you locals! Be sure to look for Leeroy and some Doodle Dog originals on air! Kellie is also announcing her book "The First Bark" on the show and it will be available for sale starting Friday!
Leeroy isn't reporting with me today, he says he is saving up his energy for Friday and he is getting lots of beauty sleep.

This week's featured painting is a memorial to best buddies "Razor and Cocoa". They did everything together and were neighbours! The sky background adds to the playfulness and Cocoa is ready to play ball. Great memories of friends to the end.

It's my Birfday!

Leeroy: "Today is my birfday! I am one! Nobody believes I am one, they all think I am still a puppy. I will be getting a special birfday dinner and cake and presents too!"
Rupert: "He'll be sharing the food with me, though. Kellie said so."
Leeroy: "Yah, yah....oh, Kellie was at the Ottawa Humane Society's Furball last weekend. She said it was really great and a really nice couple won her donation. Kellie was all dressed up and had these weird shoes on with sticks at the heels...she said I wasn't allowed to chew on the sticks. I don't know what else they would be there for...?"
Rupert: "We waited up for her to get home, it was really late but we still danced when she got in!"
Leeroy: "Oh, yeah...that was fun! The Furball night raised over $110,000 this year! What a great cause!"
Rupert: "That would buy alot of food!"
Leeroy: "Rupert, simmer with the food.....This week's painting feature is called "Playful Peter". It is a memorial to a dear greyhound in the US. His owners lost him suddenly and miss him so much. You can tell what a loving soul he is, what a nice way to remember him."

Rupert: "Peter's fur colours are really neat. Kellie says he was a brindle. I love his happy eyes!"
Leeroy: "Me too. Let's go tell Kellie that we did our post. I think it's time for us to go for a big walk, it's finally sunny out and warm enough. We can think about Peter on our walk."
Rupert: "Good idea, bro....and by the way, happy birthday....I'm glad you're here."
Leeroy: "RUPERT!? Are you getting emotional with me? You LOVE me?! Is that a tear in your eye?!!!"

A Doodle DOG Book! A Doodle DOG Book!

Rupert: "I am SO excited! A Doodle DOG book is now being printed as we speak!!! Kellie has been working very hard on this and is expecting her first shipment of her first book in the next few days! It's a 60 page hardcover book, and it measures 7" x 7" - great to display for friends and family!
Inside you'll find me and Leeroy along with over 60 other dogs that have been painted by Kellie over the last couple of years. This book is dedicated to the dogs, her next one will include her cat and horse paintings too but we'll have to wait for that one!
The book, called "The First Bark" will be available for sale soon directly through Kellie to start. Watch her boutique for it's arrival! Yippee! Leeroy, we're going to be famous!!!"
Leeroy: "Now that Rupert hogged the spotlight on this post, I might as well let him tell you about this week's painting. I'm off to sulk now....maybe Kellie will feel sorry for me and give me a cookie...."
Rupert: "Never mind him...he's in a mood....This week's painting is called "Queen Candy". It is a gorgeous greyhound painted as a gift from one sister to another. Candy was a first greyhound to her owner and came as a rescue. Candy passed on but inspired her owner to continue to rescue greyhounds and open up her heart and home to this sweet and loyal breed. I wish I could have met Candy. Kellie says she would have been alot bigger than me and that she could run really fast! The cameo headshot forever immortalizes her and hopefully brings comfort as well as good memories back to her owner."

Rupert: "On Saturday, March 29th, Kellie will be attending the Ottawa Humane Society's Furball! It's at the National Gallery and she is donating a big canvas prize...the winner will get a painting of their pet! It's a black tie ball with a Mardi Gras theme. I wonder what Kellie is going to wear?!"
Leeroy: "Look at me! Look at me! I know what I am wearing! I am good to go!"
Rupert: "Sorry to tell you Leeroy, we will have to stay at home for this one BUT we can wait up for Kellie to come home and have an after party celebration!"
Leeroy: "Can I still wear my bowtie?"

Leeroy: "I don't know what 50 cms is but if it involves cozy pjs and lots of treats then I am in!"

Leeroy: "Blah, blah, blah.....Rup, I know you are looking forward to the treats....I saw Kellie come in with some extra food for us for the weekend! By the way, nice hat..."
Rupert: "I am overlooking your uneducated comment about my chapeau and going to talk about this painting by Kellie. It's "Marvellous Maxwell". Max even came over to our house and we got to play with him! Sorry about Leeroy's lack of manners, Max....my brother can be a little too hyper sometimes."
Leeroy: "ME? Hyper?! You were jumping all over him too! Lack of manners...give me a break..."
Rupert: "Anyways....Max's portrait has a classic black satin background and he looks so distinguished!"
Leeroy: "OOOOoooo....distinguished...someone's been reading the dictionary..."

Leeroy: "Gosh, Rupert, I don't like this winter thing....it's my first winter and I just don't like the cold!"
Rupert: "Look, it's a fact of life here in Canada...at least we have each other to snuggle under the covers with! I have tried talking Kellie into hibernating but she reminded me that I would miss out on some food...so I've settled for long winter naps."

Leeroy: "Kellie is too busy to hibernate! Guess what - to help us snap out of this cold she is offering a special for commissions booked in March!!! Get her 24" x 30" size for $650 - that's a savings of $70!!!"
Rupert: "Wow! She doesn't often have specials..."
Leeroy: "Cause you cost too much to feed, hahaha."
Rupert: "Hey, who's sharing thier blanket with you? Wanna keep it that way?"
Leeroy: "Sorry...I know you are sensitive about your boyish figure....let's talk about a painting."
Rupert: "Perfect. We'd like to show you "Remember Montana" a beautiful memorial to a special dog."

Leeroy: "I really like Montana's thick fur coat...I wish I had fur like that...looks so nice and cozy."
Rupert: "I saw Kellie with tears in her eyes sometimes when she was painting this one. She told me that she is always honoured to paint peoples' pets and that it is extra emotional to work on memorials. I wish we could have met Montana."

Leeroy: "YeeHaw!! Oooops...sssshhhhhhhhhhhh...it's WAY past my bedtime and I shouldn't still be up! Rupert has been in bed sleeping for hours! He made me promise him not to talk about any doodle dogs without him so I thought, since I'm up, I'd remind everyone that Kellie paints horses too! I'm not breaking my promise, right? This big painting is called "Whoa, Johnny!". Johnny looks really strong and wild! Oh, yeah, and Kellie can paint all other pets too. Right now she is working on a cat painting as well as two more doggies. I've never met a horse before...do they like to play fetch?"
